Dictionary of War
A collaborative platform for discussing concepts about war, to be invented, arranged and presented by scientists, artists, theorists and activists at a public, two-day event. The aim is to pinpoint key concepts that play a significant role in current discussions about war, as well as those that have been neglected, or have yet to be created. Over the past two years, 125 key concepts have been produced in previous editions of The Dictionary of War, Developed in Frankfurt, Munich, Graz, Berlin and Novi Sad. The sixth edition, to be Developed at Manifesta 7, will be a remix of concepts from former editions, as well as an exhibition of a number of newly created concepts and Their live presentations. Organised for the first time in 2006 by Florian Schneider and Susanne Lang, and by the non-profit Multitude eV, in collaboration with Unfriendly Takeover, DICTIONARY OF WAR is a collaborative platform for creating concepts around the theme of "war" . Concepts that are invented, put together and presented at a public event lasting two days. The aim is to highlight key words that play a significant role in contemporary discourse on the war, in addition to those that have not yet been considered or created. A reflection in the round in which the war is not only opposed a priori, but is analyzed in its deeper reasons to find items that meet the conflict but avoid violence and the use of force. DICTIONARY OF WAR is both a performance space and a place of production for each year are presented in alphabetical order 25 concepts, for thirty minutes each, and continuously, recorded by different cameras, are mixed live, encoded in real time and published on the internet . Seven new concepts will be designed by the developers of DICTIONARY OF WAR.
